Books For Thought: Do you ever promote books without consciously knowing it?

Previously known as Monday's Question of the Day, Books For Thought is a feature where I post a book-related question up for discussion. I am open to all opinions and enjoy reading diverse comments from my lovely followers. I look forward to picking your minds!

Have a question idea? Share it here and I'll feature your blog in this post.

Do you ever promote or advertise books without consciously knowing it?

My Response: Yes! For starters, on my blog I obviously promote YA books, but I am aware of it. I realized the other day, that I promote YA books on the train. Whenever I am reading a book, I always make sure the cover can be seen. Why? I love when I catch a person staring at it. It's fascinating that they are even bothering to admire it, plus they can easily remember the title and then go home and look it up. Does it work? I'm not really sure but I hope it can spread the word even through YA's beautiful covers!

What are your bookish thoughts?

I go out of my way to "sell" books I love. There's my blog, of course, where I rave about awesome books. Then FB, where I try to chat up my friends about what they're reading (not too much though. I don't want to be blocked as a nuisance!). And I do a ton of booktalks in my classroom, pushing books on my students so they'll just read something. Yay for books!

I think.... always. I am always talking books, chatting authors... people will approach me saying how they liked the book I recommended and I dont even recall recommending the book. :) To me - talking books is like breathing air.

I do promote books. All the time. YA books especially because of how much I love them. I have gotten three people who didn't even own library cards to get one and even use it(!)

I had a coworker text me at the bookstore and tell me she blames me for her even being there because she borrowed one of my books and she read it as opposed to watching TV.

I love that feeling. Don't you?
