Beautiful Book Hangover will be posted sporadically on La Femme Readers. According to the Urban Dictionary, "a book hangover is a headache you get after staying up into the wee hours of the morning staring at teeny tiny print." As book addicts we've all experienced this type of hangover many times, so why not share them with each other? You are more than welcome to use this idea, just as long as you credit me.

Book Hangover Choice:
Anna Dressed in Blood (Anna Dressed in Blood, #1) by Kendare Blake
Reading Level: Young Adult
Release Date: August 30, 2011
Publisher: Tor Teen
Pages: 320
Summary: Cas Lowood has inherited an unusual vocation: He kills the dead. So did his father before him, until he was gruesomely murdered by a ghost he sought to kill. Now, armed with his father's mysterious and deadly athame, Cas travels the country with his kitchen-witch mother and their spirit-sniffing cat. Together they follow legends and local lore, trying to keep up with the murderous dead—keeping pesky things like the future and friends at bay. When they arrive in a new town in search of a ghost the locals call Anna Dressed in Blood, Cas doesn't expect anything outside of the ordinary: track, hunt, kill. What he finds instead is a girl entangled in curses and rage, a ghost like he's never faced before. She still wears the dress she wore on the day of her brutal murder in 1958: once white, now stained red and dripping with blood. Since her death, Anna has killed any and every person who has dared to step into the deserted Victorian she used to call home. But she, for whatever reason, spares Cas's life.
Why it kept me up: I don't want to say too much since my review will be up next week. But, wow this book blew me away with how creepy it was! I really love when young adult novels push the envelope and let me tell ya Kendare did just that! Plus, I was amazed at how much I enjoyed Cas's narrative. I'm not really a fan of male protagonists, since it is hard for me to connect with them, but I couldn't get enough of him!

Judging by the look of the cover and the summary, I think this book's creepiness factor would've induced sleeplessness for a few days. I can't wait to read this one! And I'm encouraged by your happy thoughts on it.
