Guest Post:

1) Thank you Sara and Staci for giving me the chance to feature you both on my blog. I'm so glad you reached out to me, Sinful sounds like an amazing read. I am eager to know, what inspired you both to write it?

SW + SD: Thanks Eleni. We are super excited about our first novel and having the opportunity to share it with you and your followers. A few years ago, we were both reading YA novels like mad and joked about writing one of our own. As middle school English teachers we thought, “How hard can it be, right?” Ha! Well, Staci had a crazy dream that she thought would make a great book, and it didn’t take much convincing to get Sara onboard. Before we knew it, we were plotting out our novel.

2) I am always interested in knowing the dynamics behind writing a book with two authors. Was there a lot of arguments or did you girls manage to compromise?

SW + SD: Amazingly enough, no blood was shed. We really do work well together. We know each other’s strengths and weaknesses and aren’t afraid to say what we think. We met once a week at our local Starbucks with a notebook and a laptop, and a year later SINFUL was complete. The majority of the writing was done together little by little, and then we would revise and edit on our own. It definitely surprised us both how well it all came together.

3) Throughout Sinful, who were your favorite character creations? If you could hang out with your character choices, what would you do?

SW + SD: Staci – I have to admit, I always love the bad guy. So, Daniel it is! I had a blast writing his character because, although he is as bad as they come, he’s hilarious. I would definitely want to hang out with him as long as he wasn’t trying to kill me. Sara – I would have to agree with Staci. I love Daniel’s character. I too have always found myself drawn to the bad boys. But while I’d want to hang out with Daniel, I’d much rather fall in love with a guy like Michael.

4) Supernatural books have taken over the Young Adult era lately. As authors, how did you distinguish your supernatural element compared to other stereotypical books?

SW + SD: When we set out to write Sinful, there were not any other angel romances on the YA shelf, and we wanted to do something different. But over the years, more and more angel books appeared, so no longer was Sinful different in that aspect. But, Sinful is still different. It’s a true romance from page one. While its paranormal element is angels, it’s still very different from all the other angel books we have read. We’d say more but we don’t want to ruin anything.

5) I see you have a new werewolf series coming out in the future, called Static. Can you tell us a little bit about this series and what we can expect as readers?

SW + SD: Static will be book one in a series about a pack of werewolves in New Mexico. Each novel will focus on a different member of the pack, so the reader won’t be reading about the same characters over and over again. In STATIC, seventeen-year-old Allison Wright is turning into a werewolf; she just doesn’t know it yet. When her new behaviors become too much for her to control, her mother makes the difficult decision to move her family back to her old pack where Allison meets the wolf of her dreams. Unfortunately, he is already taken by Kendall, a girl who will do anything to keep him and her position in the pack. And when Kendall teams up with a rogue werewolf with an agenda of his own, things get hairy. It’s also a YA paranormal romance, but it’s a bit different from our first novel because it’s told from alternating 1st person POVs, so you get the first person perspective from Allison, Cade, and Kendall.

6) In your overall opinion, how do you feel your publication journey has been? Was it a long and grueling one or an easy challenge?

SW + SD: We’d have to say that it was somewhere in between. There are lots of writers out there that have been writing for years and years and have not been published yet. And from what we’ve come to discover, it’s rare to get your first novel published, so we feel very lucky. But it took about a year before Sinful sold to Mundania, and it’s been a year and a half wait to see it in print. And we had to take a lot of rejection before it was finally accepted by a publisher. One thing we’ve learned is you have to have thick-skin in this business and you can’t let it get you down.

7) Last but not least, do you have anything you'd like to say to your future readers?

SW + SD: We hope you enjoy Sinful as much as we enjoyed writing it. That’s what it’s all about, right? We wrote Sinful hoping to appeal to and connect with the YA reader and give them another book to add to their list of favorites.
