-In the Summer, ABC Family contacted me to participate in a Pretty Little Liars keeper game. In this game, I mainly took instructions by the infamous and sassy "A" to complete tasks. The promotion value for the TV show was genius. The show definitely backed up all the hype and I can't wait for it to come back next year. A few days ago, I received a Halloween gift from "A."

The black box consisted of a flashlight and a cute, plastic bowl of yummy orange M&M's with the writing, "trick" / "treat" / and "-A" on them. Thank you PLL for being awesome!

I'd love to hear what you got this week!

Halloween Tour: Movie Casting Random Magic by Sasha Soren

Random Magic Halloween Tour: Casting Random Magic

In several reviews, readers have commented that they’d like to see a Random Magic movie, with Book Junkie commenting that she’d already started casting the characters while she was reading the book -- hence this feature.

Book Trailer: Random Magic

This Halloween, we celebrate all things spooky – including the eerie and unusual characters who populate the pages of Random Magic. Here, we offer some picks for the best actors and actresses to bring the world of Random Magic to life. Here are La Femme Readers’ picks – which are yours?

Winnie (book quote):
“A girl. Rather an interesting girl, with big green eyes and dark hair in messy pigtails spilling over her shoulders. Her dusty patchwork tunic was torn, her face smeared black with dirt and ash, and her left eye puffy, as if she’d walked into a door. She was saying something. Or, might have been, if she didn’t have a huge red gag over her mouth. Hard to tell, really.”

Eleni’s Pick: Zooey Deschanel

Why?: I always pictured Winnie being a girl with many layers with an innocent looking face. On top of that, the light eyes and dark haired ponytails reminded me of Zooey.

-------------------

Callie (book quote): “Callie lolled in the bathtub like a rag doll, fast asleep. Her gold-woven drape was a sodden mess, she’d lost a jeweled sandal and her hair streamed limply over the porcelain, like dark red seaweed. But she’d managed to hang on to her sombrero.”

Eleni’s Pick: Hayden Panettiere

Why?: Callie, even though she comes across as a sloppy mess in the quote, embodies beauty. Her golden locks and jeweled sandals remind me of Hayden's gorgeous style. Especially when she starred in 'Heroes' as a pretty cheerleader that got down and dirty when it came to using her powers of never getting hurt.

-------------------

Professor Random:
The lovable and ingenious but preposterously absent-minded academic, who loses Alice in Wonderland and starts all the hubbub, in the first place.

Professor Random (book quote):
“In a cobwebbery corner of the room was a man who looked a bit like Einstein, only with less fashion sense. He’d forgotten what he was doing there.”

Eleni’s Pick: Christopher Lloyd

Why?: I automatically thought of Christopher Lloyd for the role of Professor Random. His mad scientist look and bad fashion sense are present in the photo above. And of course, who doesn't like 'Back to the Future'?

-------------------

Professor Literati:
The sleek, spooky and mysterious figure with strange ways, who appears to live several lives.

Professor Literati (book quote):
“Smoke curled around Madame Literati’s eyes, which lit thoughtfully as she stared at Winsley over her dark glasses.”

Eleni’s Pick: Helena Bonham Carter

Why? Helena does a great job acting like a spooky and mysterious figure. Madame Literati would come alive if she was casted as her. If you've seen her in movies such as Sweeney Todd and Alice in Wonderland, you'd agree.

-------------------

The Count and Countess De Morgue:
The darkly romantic, soft-spoken and elegant but lethal pair who live for love -- and…having guests for dinner…

Count De Morgue (book quote):
“The count smiled, his heavy-lidded hazel eyes gleaming with the prospect of unexpected diversion…Fresh blood was exactly what they required...”

Eleni’s Pick: Johnny Depp

Why?: Johnny Depp is not only handsome and mischievous looking but, also a fantastic actor. Just like Helena, his creepy deliverance is spot on. In my opinion, he'd play a sexy count who sought out fresh blood.

Countess De Morgue (book quote):
“Like a set of matching funereal angels, Lady De Morgue was as beautiful to look at as the count, and doubly gloomy.”

Eleni’s Pick: Kate Beckinsale

Why?: Kate's passed movie roles of playing a vampire were amazing. She has the beauty and hardness that comes with being a countess. Plus, the visual coupling of Kate and Johnny Depp would be electrifying.

-------------------

The Red Queen:
Whew. Scary.

The Red Queen (book quote):
“Her dark red hair snaked into a twisted coil of interwoven links, and cut through the air like a pair of horns. The snowflakes falling gently onto her hair sizzled as they landed.”

Eleni’s Pick: Rose Mcgowan

Why? Red hair. Bitchy attitude. Need I say more?

If you’ve already read the book – do you agree with these picks? Or do you have some of your own? Feel free to leave a comment giving your dream team! Happy Halloween!

Book Review: Book of Revenge (Knight Angels, Book #2) by Abra Ebner

Book of Revenge (Knight Angels, Book #2) by Abra Ebner
Reading Level: Young Adult
Release Date: Available Now
Pages: 326
Source: Received from author for honest review
(The Teen Book Scene Blog Tour)

Summary: New characters, New world, but old enemies. Emily struggles to ignore a new friend with emotions that temp her, Wes delves deeper into his past and family while finding friendship isn't reserved for the human race alone, Jane finds out her dear Max isn't what he seems, Gregs friendships cost him more than he expected, and Max forgets that the truth is best. But then again, someone always has to be the liar... Emotional baggage, begrudged enemies, and the bitterness that comes when the honeymoon of their friendship fades... Will the love survive, or as it all just a game?

My Review: The first installment in the Knight Angels series, Book of Love, fixated me as though I was under a spell. The follow-up, Book of Revenge awakened my admiration for Abra's delightful writing. Its visual storytelling quality and distinguished characters took me through the stages of a well-executed sequel. Before I start explaining the plot, nothing in this review spoils Book of Love, so if you are interested in reading the Knight Angels series, the twists and turns will come as a surprise. Continued in numerous narratives, I was once again engulfed in the lives of Max, Jane, Emily and Wes. Max and Jane's electrifying bond chilled my being with goose bumps and fear. Emily, first known as a rebel, had grown into an individual she was meant to be. Wes's unexpected power was clearly defined and its animalistic origin was brought to light. Finally, Greg, Max's evil angel brother, took a backseat while new creatures were welcomed into the mix.

Jake, an undercover vampire, contributed a new version of this species. His warm blooded skin and lack of immortality went against the norm, creating a sense of excitement. Another past enemy of Max's, Avery, took the villain role this time around. Her vengeful demeanor and dark attributes made me dislike her off the bat. The back story behind her attitude was stimulating but, also explained the reasoning behind her actions. The element I was most impressed with was the magically delicious world of Winter Wood. Abra's unique take on a pixie populated land was fun yet indicated the stem of all these unknown character abilities. The ending left me overwhelmed with questions and a cliffhanger that made me wish I had the third book in my hands! Overall, this installment was even better than the first. The maturity and growth in Abra's style showcased that she is a force to be reckon with. I look forward to experiencing the mysterious flow into the third book, hopefully coming soon!

My Rating:
Author's Info:
Abra Ebner lives in Washington State with her husband and two cats. She writes everyday, unable to find anything else that brings her as much joy, other than love. Her travels to England, Scotland, Switzerland and Germany, as well as her studies abroad in Australia have granted her a life full of wonder and excitement. She graduated from Washington State University with a degree in Fine Art.

Cover Reveal: Awakened by P.C. + Kristin Cast

Summary: Exonerated by the Vampyre High Council and returned to her position of High Priestess at Tulsa’s House of Night, Neferet has sworn vengeance on Zoey. Dominion over Kalona is only one of the weapons she plans to use against Z. But Zoey has found sanctuary on the Isle of Skye and is being groomed by Queen Sgiach to take over for her there. Being Queen would be cool, wouldn’t it? Why should she return to Tulsa? After losing her human consort, Heath, she will never be the same – and her relationship with her super-hot-warrior, Stark, may never be the same either… And what about Stevie Rae and Rephaim? The Raven Mocker refuses to be used against Stevie Rae, but what choice does he have when no one in the entire world, including Zoey, would be okay with their relationship? Does he betray his father or his heart? In the pulse-pounding 8th book in the bestselling House of Night series, how far will the bonds of friendship stretch and how strong are the ties that bind one girl’s heart?

My Thoughts: I know most of you are tired of the House of Night series, however I still continue to read them. I haven't read the latest book yet though, so I have to do that soon. I really like this cover, it's sexy and dark. The guy's biceps are visually yummy and I like the tattoo on his arm. It's not my favorite cover of the series, but it's still nice.

What do you all think?

Monday's Question of the Day on Tuesday!

*You are welcome to use my meme - just credit me please*

Question: Do you have any pet peeves towards people who borrow your books?

My Answer: I normally don't mind when people borrow my books, as long as they come back in mint condition. I've had situations where a book went from new to old and mangled looking. My poor Twilight paperback has been through the block and officially needs to be replaced. Now, besides the used look, I cannot stand when a book comes back with stains. I'm glad they are enjoying it but I don't want to see that you were drinking coffee at the time. So, at the end of the day, I will continue to let my friends borrow books however, they have to hear the rules first.

I'd love to know your thoughts, so leave me a comment :)

Book Review + Giveaway: Where The Truth Lies by Jessica Warman

Where The Truth Lies by Jessica Warman
Reading Level: Young Adult
Release Date: Available Now
Publisher: Bloomsbury USA Children's Books

Pages: 320
Source: Received from publicist for honest review (Blog Tour)

Summary: On the surface, Emily Meckler leads the perfect life. She has three best friends, two loving parents, and the ideal setup at the Connecticut prep school where her father is the headmaster. But Emily also suffers from devastating nightmares about fire and water, and nobody knows why. Then the enigmatic Del Sugar enters her life, and Emily is immediately swept away—but her passionate relationship with Del is just the first of many things that aren't quite what they seem in Emily's life. As the lies she's been told start to unravel, Emily must set out to discover the truth regarding her nightmare; on a journey that will lead her to question everything she thought she knew about love, family, and her own idyllic past. This companion novel to Warman's critically acclaimed Breathless proves that sometimes the biggest lies are told to the people you love the most.

My Review: Where The Truth Lies was a novel about friendship, family and detrimental secrets. These underlying lies had the capacity to spin an individual's life into a web of uncertainty and distrust. In presenting this concept, Jessica introduced a sequenced plot with nail-biting anticipation. Another well-executed aspect was the evolvement of main and secondary characters. The combination of personality qualities and flaws eased my character connection. Emily, daughter of her school's headmaster, was good-hearted by nature. Labeled as a "goody, goody" by her peers, Emily was an ordinary student who sought out love and attention from her friends and family. The friends within her circle were versatile and realistic. Each girl had her own problem that derived a minor story within this twisted world of unexpected events.

I really loved Renee, it was a friendship that blossomed out of nowhere. Her non-judgmental aura was admirable and a crutch for Emily. However, not every person in this novel had a good effect on Emily. When Del Sugar transferred into her existence, a level of love and spontaneity blinded her choices. His shady exterior identified him as bad news. But, in the end everyone in this novel carried a deep flaw that induced individual growth and actions for better survival. Overall, I read this book in two sittings. The inclination of truth behind each background grabbed my heart strings and wouldn't let go. Jessica's style was also detailed yet simplistic at the same time. A type of effort that's natural in engrossing the reader from beginning to end.

My Rating: (4.5)
