A Few Announcements:
-The amazing Lauren from Shooting Stars Mag stated on her blog, "So I want to remember September 11, 2001 in a bigger way. Next year it will be the ten year anniversary. I came up with an idea to commerorate the day and surrounding events, but hopefully in a more positive way...instead of something crippled by the events having just happened. The project, once finished, will be a book...and I want this to be published in time for the tenth anniversary. And you know what's cool? I talked to a publishing company that could do this and it would be an honor for me, but you see, I need help. I need people...big names and small names, known and unknown...to get in touch and be willing to help out. I want people from New York and the rest of the United States...but I want people from other countries too. If you think you could be of help or just want to know more details, let me know. If you're an author, please write. If you know authors, tell them. You don't have to be a writer though. I'm just a regular person and I want you all too. I want celebrities and non-celebrities. I want YOU."
I am 100% going to reach out and help Lauren. Being a New Yorker, I will never forget the tragic 9/11 event. The emotion is still fresh today. Every time I pass by the World Trade Center work site I can't help but not think of all those innocent lives lost. If you're interested in being involved in this project, e-mail Lauren at lauren51990@aol.com or you can take a look at her blog post here.
-One of my favorite authors, Simone Elkeles, announced the 3rd book in the Perfect Chemistry Series, as Chain Reaction! Doesn't it fit perfectly with the rest of the series!? It will be coming out in Spring 2011.
Also, Simone recently won a RITA award from the Romance Writers of America in the Best Young Adult Romance category for Perfect Chemistry. Congrats Simone! You definitely deserve it!
-Cassandra Clare, the talented and genius of the Mortal Instrument series made a huge announcement this week! This is off of Publisher's Weekly, "Simon & Schuster has signed books five and six in Cassandra Clare's bestselling YA series, The Mortal Instruments. S&S says there are more than three million copies of the series' three published titles in print. Clare launched The Mortal Instruments in 2007, with City of Bones, about a teenage demon slayer; City of Ashes and City of Glass followed. Book four, City of Fallen Angels, is scheduled for April 5, 2011. Karen Wojtyla, editorial director of Margaret K. McElderry Books, bought U.S. rights to the two new titles from Barry Goldblatt at Barry Goldblatt Literary. The two new books under contract--City of Lost Souls and City of Heavenly Fire--are scheduled, respectively, for May 2012 and September 2013. Clare will also be touring, in late August, to promote Clockwork Angel, which is the first title in the prequel series to The Mortal Instruments, The Infernal Devices. Film rights to The Mortal Instruments have been optioned by Unique Features."
