Monday's Question of the Day!

*You are welcome to use my meme - just credit me please*

Question: How would you feel if one day you woke up and instead of regular books we only had E-Books that could be read on software such as the Kindle?

My Answer:
Man, I'd be really pissed! I'm not a huge fan of E-Books. I rather have a softcover or hardcover book in my hands. It's just easier to read and I would seriously miss the smell of a new book. And, of course I'd long for the pretty cover that YA books come with now a days. I'm starting to make myself upset just thinking about it. So, hopefully this never happens in the future! :)

I'd love to know your thoughts, so leave me a comment :)

I agree with you. I would hate not being able to hold a book and having that gorgeous cover on my bookshelf.

I would be really unhappy! I don't get the E-book thing AT ALL! I guess I'm pretty old school in this respect. I like my full to bursting bookshelves and all the lovely book covers! Somehow having them all on a E-Reader doesn't seem the same, although it might save me a lot of space...!

I am exceptionally old school on this one...I have had nightmares about that happening.

There is nothing like the feel of a book in your hands. A new one where the pages are crisp and perfect or an old one where it holds not only a great story by an author but its lasting quality is a story within itself.

I understand the ease, the functionality but how pissed would I be if I owned a Kindle or e-reader where the battery died during the climax or the screen went fuzzy while reading or heaven forbid it 'lost' all the information stored on it. Let's be honest it happens with laptops & phones why won't it happen with an e-reader.... just say'n.

I can get on this soapbox ALL DAY LONG lol.

Oh no!! That would be heartbreaking. I love to see covers of books and I like to look at them on my shelves. The Kindle is just so...cold and hard!

I too love the feel of a REAL book! Covers and all! I have never tried an ebook so I don't know what that "feels" like.

My best friend has read tons of e-books,but I can't do it.I just can't picture a world without "actual" books, ones you can hold, smell, touch.Maybe I'm being superficial, because I know that it's the content of a book that matters and not the form it's in.But truth is,I'd feel awful if something like that were to happen!

I like my Kindle, but would be really bummed not hold a book in my hands! I am a tactile reader for the most part.

I don't have an e-reader and don't read ebooks on my computer (it would kill my eyes). I would like to have one but I'd still perfer having the feel of a book in my hands.

AHHH I would cry. I love my books so much, I don't know what I would do if I couldn't just have them all. While I don't mind reading an e-book once in a while, I like physically having my books to hold like you said, and smell!! There's just something about going to the bookstore and picking out new books, not nearly as exciting as picking on ebooks lol.

I am so with you on this one! I would be beyond pissed off!!! There is nothing like getting a brand new book and smelling it and feeling it in your hands! Plus like you said what about the beautiful covers books have these days! And I'm a total author fan so I love going to book signings and getting my books signed. You can't have your kindle signed. Oh man I would be so mad!!!

Yes, I would be rather angry too. I love books all things book and would love to read on Kindle, but haven't got one yet. I don't think one should ever do away with the other. I think we have room for both. Call me Pollyanna on this, but print will never die because people have a very affectionate and longterm relationship with books. Actual books, not kindles ereaders etc...

although it would save space, money and time, I really don't think i could ever give up my paperbacks. I am having the new book smell experience right now with Hex Hall and i am absolutely loving getting high off the papery goodness.

Thats like a nightmare! I have this scary vision of some day books being rare and kept in an underground airtight vault (like you see in the Angels and Demons movie).... they would be illegal and if you were caught with them - hoo boy...... I dont even want to say the library fine you would get! ;)

Remember when we use to beta or vhs and then they dissappeared and now there are dvd's. I wonder if that will happen to books? I love books. There is nothing like having a book curled up on the couch, bed or outside lounge chair and flipping those beautiful pages. If they disappeared...I would be truely sad.

I'd be just as annoyed as Record Player fans are about the popularity of CD's.

Yes, I'd be able to deal but I would miss seeing all the pretty covers IRL. Also reading on a technological device for hours on end would bother me. I just like holding the books in my hands. I am also pretty sure I'd end up spending way more on books than I currently do.

On the pro side though, we would be saving a whole lot of trees.
