Summary: Grace Divine, daughter of the local pastor, always knew something terrible happened the night Daniel Kalbi disappeared--the night she found her brother Jude collapsed on the porch, covered in his own blood--but she has no idea what a truly monstrous secret that night held. The memories her family has tried to bury resurface when Daniel returns, three years later, and enrolls in Grace and Jude's high school. Despite promising Jude she'll stay away, Grace cannot deny her attraction to Daniel's shocking artistic abilities, his way of getting her to look at the world from new angles, and the strange, hungry glint in his eyes. The closer Grace gets to Daniel, the more she jeopardizes her life, as her actions stir resentment in Jude and drive him to embrace the ancient evil Daniel unleashed that horrific night. Grace must discover the truth behind the boy's dark secret...and the cure that can save the ones she loves. But she may have to lay down the ultimate sacrifice to do it--her soul.

My Review: The Dark Divine was a suspenseful, intriguing supernatural debut from Bree. At first, I didn't know what to expect because everything was so mysterious. But, once I reached the middle of the book I quickly became engulfed in the story. The characters were okay to me, I lacked a connection with Grace, maybe it was because we're so different. However, I believe Daniel made the novel. I absolutely adored him from the beginning and was rooting for his blossoming attraction to Grace. The twist presented halfway through the book didn't really surprise me. After reading so many supernatural stories I got the gist of the secret Daniel was keeping before he unveiled it. But, I did enjoy Bree's writing, it was face-paced and well-written. Also, their is a part close to the end that takes place on the school roof that I really loved. I'm not giving too much away but those of you who read it know how action packed that scene was. I'm not sure if Bree will write a sequel because the last paragraph at the end left me wondering. I still am curious to see the outcome of some characters so I hope Bree continues the story! Overall, a good, decent read with enough action and suspense to hold your attention. I definitely recommend it to supernatural fans.

It's interesting to me that a supporting character (well, okay, maybe not supporting, but not the MAIN one at least) made the book for you. *ponders* Sounds to me that it is well written if the "cast" can connect with you that well. It's already on my wish list, but thanks for the additional insight! Happy reading!
