Beautiful Book Hangover: Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi

Beautiful Book Hangover will be posted sporadically on La Femme Readers. According to the Urban Dictionary, "a book hangover is a headache you get after staying up into the wee hours of the morning staring at teeny tiny print." As book addicts we've all experienced this type of hangover many times, so why not share them with each other? You are more than welcome to use this idea, just as long as you credit me.

Summary: "You can't touch me," I whisper. I'm lying, is what I don't tell him. He can touch me, is what I'll never tell him. But things happen when people touch me. Strange things. Bad things. No one knows why Juliette's touch is fatal, but The Reestablishment has plans for her. Plans to use her as a weapon. But Juliette has plans on her own. After a lifetime without freedom, she's finally discovering a strength to fight back for the very first time—and to find a future with the one boy she thought she'd lost forever.

Why it kept me up: Tahereh is a lyrically, gifted author and a savior to my reading slump. I couldn't put this book down, it literally grabbed me until the last powerful word. My review will be up at the end of the week, so I'm going to keep this short and simple. I'm amazed at how painfully beautiful the plot was. It rocked my core and I recommend you all grab this piece of literary magic once it hits bookshelves!

I agree with you on this book so much! While I didn't read it this week, it definitely kept me up to all hours when I read it a few months ago. I can't get over Tahereh's writing style - it's so beautiful.

The book that kept me up all night this week was Witch Eyes by Scott Tracey! So very good.

This definitely sounds like a book I'd love. I hope to get a chance to read it soon.

Although I didn't finish my book yet, I stayed up until 3:30 am reading it. It's Bad Girls Don't Die by Katie Alender. :)

Lol! I love the concept of a book hangover. You're right, I think we've all experienced one of those before, though I have to admit it's been awhile since I've had a book hangover over a book that wasn't school-related. Glad to hear this one was worth it for you though!
