We've all unfortunately experienced reading slumps. They truly suck! Everytime I try to read, I get bored and walk away from it. With that being said, I did finish an addictive book last week *coughTheUnbecomingOfMaraDyercough* but, since then everything has gone down hill.
Why is this happening? I think it's because I haven't been sleeping much. We are still renovating my house, and we don't have a living room set yet. So, when I am trying to fall asleep, the hubby is carelessly watching TV, gotta love them right?
I'm really hoping I start a book that pulls me in soon. I miss reading. You know that feeling where throughout the day all you think about is getting home and getting lost in that book. I need a book that will move me in that way. So, this is where I need my amazing followers to help me....I'd love to hear some book recommendations! As you all know, I primarily read YA, so I'd very much love to hear all your thoughts. I don't mind if it's an oldie or newbie, at this point, I'm very open minded.
Thank you my loves!!
xoxo

I just finished The Pearl Wars by Nick James and can't stop thinking about it. :) I go through funks on and off too, it's only natural dear. :)
well I agree we all go through reading slumps and it always seems to happen after a amazing book. Nothing can compare to that great book coughcough divergent.
Maybe try a different genre or read something for fun and not review. :)
I understand you. I'm feeling that way now, but I jut signed up for a read-a-thon for an extra push :)
I'm not sure what book would you like, but I'm just going to start reading Divergent by Veronica Roth. I've heard it's amazing.
I hate reading slumps. My trick to getting out of them is to go back and read a book that I absolutely love. Just for fun. It usually works and then I can get back to my review books. =)
Hope you get out of your reading slump soon!
Morganville Vampires by Rachel Caine
Skulduggery Pleasant by Derek Landy

The Demon Trapper's Daughter by Jana Oliver is unique and awesome!
A Touch Mortal by Leah Clifford is awesome!!

Hope you get out of your reading slump soon! That sucks. You have the level of reading slump that is called "Just read an awesome book and can't find a book that equals it"
It happens to all of us and it SUCKS!
My recent favourites include Hunting Lila by Sarah Alderson and Dark Inside by Jeyn Roberts. Two books guaranteed to pull you out of the slumpiest of reading slumps! :)
Jellicoe Road is a fantastic book. As is If I Stay, Anna and the French Kiss, Shade, Hex Hall...so many! :)
I sympathize. Reading slumps are terrible.
Three ideas, which you may or may not have read. All are fantasy, all I ADORED: Graceling by Kristen Cashore (and the sequel, Fire), Nevermore by Kelly Creagh, and Worldweavers trilogy by Alma Alexander.
Good luck getting out of your sump! :i:
I was in your place last week. Firelight (and its sequel Vanish) got me out of mine. Don't know if you have it yet, but Prized (the sequel to Birthmarked) was AMAZING! It's on netgalley right now. Those three books got me out of my slump. Right now, I am basically reading whatever catches my eye. Hope this helps!
Right now I am kind of experiencing the opposite, not a reading slump, but a blogging slump. Where I normally check my blog several times a day and post almost daily, I've been kind of lax about it the last few weeks. I have been reading though! If you're up for a kindle book, I just finished a really amazing one called Brightest Kind of Darkness by P.T. Michelle. :) Hope your slump ends soon!
i know exactly what you mean... ever since i started school again this year i haven't had that much time to read and when i have... all the books im picking up just arn't holding my attention... what is going on??
Cold Kiss by Amy Garvey
Miss Fortune (Lear Family Trilogy, Book 3 by Julie London. If you like to laugh this book will be great. One scene about 3/4 way I started laughing, I mean almost rolling in the floor laughing and did not stop for 30 minutes. I had to hold on the a chair to keep from falling down trying to get back into the house from patio and had to keep stopping and grabbing whatever to keep my balance. I laugh so hard, so deep and so long I can't remember that ever happening to me. You can get this in paper back or Kindle and the first 2 books in series were good but not as funny. Hope you enjoy.

Why don't you try Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire? It's like Perfect Chemistry but more adult and well...Just check it!
You might be interested in our YA e-books where readers vote online to decide the plot.
The new chapter of steampunk crime adventure Rémy Brunel & the Ocean of Light is launching later today and voting closes on Monday morning. Here's the book blurb:
No-one performs on the circus trapeze like sixteen-year-old Rémy Brunel. But when the circus closes for the night, Rémy leads another life, as a cat burglar and jewel thief. Forced by the evil circus owner Gustave to attempt the theft of one of the world's most valuable diamonds, Rémy thinks it will be just another heist, but when she meets determined young detective Thaddeus Rec, her life changes forever. Will Thaddeus manage to rescue the jewel from Rémy’s nimble fingers? Or is it really Rémy that he needs to save?

I can sympathize. I am in a slump of my own at the moment. I am about half way through a book, and I know I have to finish it for work, but I just can't bring myself to read it. I hate it when that happens.
It also doesn't help when you loved the last one you finished and you want more like it. I finished Jennifer Donnelly's Revolution and absolutely loved it. At first I found the narrator a bit caustic and wasn't sure I was going to enjoy it, but once she finds the diary I was hooked. That one was required reading for work too, and it was great--I just wish I could say the same for the current one.
Best of luck getting over your slump. I signed up for a read-a-thon in hopes of boosting my reading energies--not sure it will work though.
Have you tried reading something outside your "normal" genre of choice? I find that helps me get out of my slumps. I recommend No Mercy by Lori Armstrong. A REALLY good mystery.
This is a list of books that have blown me away this year. Some came out this year, some didn't but all are YA. Here's to hopeing you beat your reading slump soon!
-Madapple by Christina Meldrum
-Ruby Red by Kersten Gier
-Cold Kiss by Amy Garvey (not what you'd expect)
-Bad Taste in Boys by Carrie Harris (this one is light and fun!)
The Liar Society by Lisa & Laura Roecker
-Daughter of Xanadu by Dori Jones Yang
-Prom & Prejudice by Elizabeth Eulberg (really fun & not what you'd expect)
-Choker by Elizabeth Woods
BTW: Anything by L.J. Smith usually helps me! Her writing is light but she always grabs you by the end with some seriously emotional experience. :) Re-reading an all time favorite usually helps me too.
I can relate! I went through a huge reading slump through the summer that depressed me so and now I find myself having so many books to read and not enough time! :i:
But here are some reccommendations that you'll hopefully enjoy:
Iron King by Julie Kagawa. Amazing. There are seriously no words to describe how good this series is and the final book comes out next month so the waits not too long.
Vampire Academy. Honestly what took you so long? Rose is kick butt but she gets better as the series progresses.
Delirium if you don't mind the wait. Its heartbreaking and beautiful ( a little slow at the beginning ) but it really makes your heart ache.
Beautiful Darkness. Third book is coming out next month so it wouldn't hurt.
Hope you get out of the reading slump soon! Hopefully you'll go from this :e: to this :d:
