Blogger Fame Interview: Isalys and Vanessa from Book ♥ Soulmates!

Blogger Fame is a meme that features a blogger once a week. I currently have a lot of entries, once it clears up, I'll add the link to join again.

Today's celebrities are . . .

Isalys and Vanessa from Book ♥ Soulmates!

Names: Isalys and Vanessa Ages: Isalys, 31 *gasp* and Vanessa, 28
Locations: Miami, FL
Twitters: Isalys @isabooksoulmate, Vanessa @booksoulmates

1) Isalys & Vanessa, what inspired you to start your blog, Book Soulmates?

I + V: It all kind of happened by accident. Isalys was (well, still is :) personal friends with Nely from All About {n} and one day while hanging out at B&N, we all ran into each other. Nely told us about this cool thing she does called blogging and how she gets to read all kinds of awesome books! It was like lightning struck. Vanessa and I grabbed "Blogging for Dummies" (seriously, we really did!) and next thing we know, Book ♥ Soulmates was born!

2) What's the meaning behind your blog title?

I + V: When Vanessa and I met, we bonded instantly and then we found out we're both huge bookworms and it was like *bam* we found our book soulmate!

3) What is the best and worst part about blogging?

I + V: The best part about blogging is the interaction with other bloggers and with authors. It's so awesome getting to know all these great people who understand, appreciate and share a love of reading the way we do. The worst is the level of commitment that it requires. It really is a labor of love and we wouldn't blog if we didn't love it, but sometimes it's a daunting trying to come up with post ideas, organizing and scheduling them, and keeping track of the giveaways. Well, I'm sure you know all this!

4) Which is your favorite genre to review?

I + V: This one is easy, our favorites are YA, dystopian, and historical & paranormal romance.

5) What are your top five favorite books of all time?

I + V: Harry Potter Series, Pride & Prejudice, The Hunger Games, Forest of Hands & Teeth, Soulless (Parasol Protectorate).

6) Who is your favorite author? If you had the chance to meet them, what would you say?

Isalys: I have a few! My literary hero is Jane Austen. Her stories are beautifully written, witty and timeless.

Vanessa: JK Rowling. I love the magical world that the brilliant mind of J.K.Rowling created.

7) Do you have any quirks while you write your reviews?

I + V: Not really. Occasionally listen to music or snack on some popcorn, but generally we prefer it to be quiet.

8) If you could make a fictional story come alive, which would you pick and why?

I + V: Harry Potter...because even though battling dragons and evil wizards isn't so easy, the rest is pretty damn cool!

9) Currently, which book cover are you lusting over?

I + V: The Shadowfever hard cover is one of them (It's not new but it's bad-ass and worth the $26.99), Tris & Izzie by Mette Ivie Harrison, The Darkest Surrender by Gena Showalter.

10) Which type five blogs do you continually visit?

I + V:

-All about {n} b/c she still inspires us

11) If you had to give advice to a newcomer, what would you tell them about blogging?

I + V: Be original, network and make friends. The success of our blogs depends on the success of our ideas and how well we network and reach out to others. One of the greatest joys of blogging, in our opinion, is not just reaching our "follower goal" or a comment quota, but in making friends that become as much as part of your life as our "real life" friends.

Random Questions:
  • Approximately, how many books do you own? We haven't counted lately, but at least 200 each.
  • Favorite guilty pleasure? Isalys: If I'm not reading, I'm probably watching Ghost Adventures. I loveee ghost stories! Vanessa: Couponing and playing Call of Duty :)
  • Where do you purchase your books? Mostly, Barnes & Noble and Amazon, but we'll shop at Books & Books sometimes.
  • Judge book by cover or summary? Both actually. The cover is what makes us grab a book from the shelf. The summary is what makes us want to buy it :)
  • Favorite movie(s)? Sense & Sensibility, Beetlejuice, Chicago, Ever After.
  • What do you think about e-readers? We each have one and we're happy to own it, but it will never replace our love of physical books. Besides, actual books smell so much better!
  • Describe yourselves in three words? We described each other in 3 words :) Isalys: Funny, Kind, Perfectionist Vanessa: Clever, Funny, Ambitious
  • Which character would you like to marry? Isalys: BONES from Night Huntress <3 I have a lot of book boyfriends, but he is at the top of my list!!! Vanessa: Mr. Willoughby from Sense & Sensibility :)

Nice interview. it would be nice to have some near me I could share my love of reading with. My friends that live here don't understand the need to read. So I'm happy to be apart of this community. :)

On a side note: My mom would kill for some of that lucy stuff. I actually bought her the candy episode dolls for xmas one year, and every year I've tried to buy her a new doll.
