Bewitching (The Kendra Chronicles) by Alex Finn
Reading Level: Young Adult
Release Date: February 14, 2011
Publisher: HarperTeen
Pages: 304
Summary: Kendra Hilferty, the witch who curses Kyle Kingsbury in Beastly, tells about her immortal existence—how she discovered she was a witch and the various ways she has used her powers to help people throughout the centuries. (Unfortunately her attempts have often backfired.) As it turns out, Kendra has actually had a hand in "Hansel and Gretel," "The Princess and the Pea," and "The Little Mermaid"—but these are not the fairy tales you think you know! Kendra’s reminiscences are wrapped around a real-time version of "Cinderella," except the “ugly” stepsister is the good guy. With dark twists, hilarious turns, and unexpected endings, Bewitching is a contemporary read for fairy-tale lovers, fantasy fans, and anyone looking for more Alex Flinn.
My Thoughts: I really loved Alex Finn's Beastly, so when I heard it was about Kendra, the witch, I was so excited! Alex always takes fairy tales and spins them into a modern tale you can fall in love with all over again. And I mean look at that cover! It's so beautifully dark and I want her dress. I cannot wait for this release.

I still need to read Beastly, but this one sounds awesome! The cover is gorgeous.
Ohhh I hadn't heard of this! I think this could be really interesting about Kendra. Thanks so much!
Thanks for the heads up, putting on my tbr pile!!!!
Hi there! New reader here!
Beyond the cover for Bewitching being gorgeous, the blurb sounds really intriguing. I've always loved retold fairy tales (Ellen Datlow and Terri Windling edited one of the best series of these a few years back), and I think I'll be adding this one to my TBR pile. Thanks for the rec!
Smiles!

Sounds fantastic and love that cover!
I loved Beastly but I don't know if I'd love this one as much. It does have potential and I do like Alex Flinn's fairytale retellings. I hadn't heard of this. I'll have to add it to my TBR list. Thanks!
What a gorgeous WoW! I cannot wait for this book, seriously. :)

The cover is a rip off of Nathalia Suellen's work 'City of Angels' that she did for R K Rigel's book 'Spiderwork'. Nathalia's work is a piece of art and this copy is a cheap Elvis type painting on black velvet. Go here for the full story.
