Do people ever complain about your reading addiction?
My Response: Yes! It's so annoying, especially when the whiner is your husband. He continually points at my book pile and complains that I'm running out of space. He always loves joking that he will burn all my books, which will never happen if he wants to see his next birthday. :) I don't understand, what's the point in whining about it when it's not bothering him? I'm not a hoarder or anything. I make it a priority to go through my stacks and either give them away on my blog or to libraries/salvation army. Eh whatevs, at the end of the day he is just wasting his breath. Oh and I am extremely jealous of those bloggers who have husbands that support their reading addictions, want to trade? ;)
What are your bookish thoughts?

Same here! My bf used to complain and complain that my books were using up way too much space. I continued to ignore him. So finally he has got the point. My books aren't going anywhere. Now he just bugs me to read faster! Last valentines day he actually bought me a new shelf. So I think we've reached an understanding lol.
Ugh! My husband is the same way! He complains all the time, and says I love my books more than him, and I would love for a sparkly Edward to come take me away. Really? We are sooo past Edward. That's just the only character name he knows. He watches TV ALL the time. I sit and read while he watches. Not hurting anything right? He is glued to the computer for "work." He is always on the phone. Not seeing how my reading interrupts any of that. (sigh)
HaHa! Funny that you should mention this! My son just said to me last night, "Mom, you have too many books and you read too much." I said, "Honey, you can never have too many books." Then I said, "My reading is not a bad thing. It doesn't cost a lot of money (I buy most of my books at library sales) and I don't hurt anybody by doing it." Actually, he likes to read, though not as much as his brother. I think he was just being a Mr. Smartypants! Now, if you would have asked about online addiction, that would be an entirely different story. I'm busted on that end!
My husband loves to read too and has a lot of books so I don't actually hear too much about it. I think he'd like for me to get rid of more a little faster, but I try to swap, sell or donate anything I don't plan on reading again I just have a hard time passing up good books!
All the time? My friends have several 'Plans' depending on how long I'm spending with them. I'm only allowed a certain number of hours to read since they consider it to be such an anti-social thing to be doing.
My family doesn't care so much (my dad and sister aren't much better truth be told). The only problem they have is that I slowly have not a room but a private library and dad is a little miffed 'cause he spent so much on my bedroom set and I'm slowly rolling the pieces out of my room to make room for my books XD
I'm so blessed. My hubby encourages my reading 'cause he knows it's my happy place that helps center me.
My husband is one of those fabulous people that completely understands and if I need 2000+ (and growing) books in my 700 sq. foot apartment, well then, so be it. However, I endured 25 years of my mother first, and she was horrible about it. It's sort of her fault - she got me hooked to reading in the first place, but she was always very much wanting me to get up and do something, suggesting that reading was lazy. Which I suppose in a way it is, but what a fabulous way to be lazy, yes? :)
LOL! My mom also complains of my reading habits. She'd much rather have me partying it up instead of sitting in my room on a Friday night to read. :P
Looks like I'm one of the lucky ones. I would flip out if someone said they were going to burn my books!

It's sort of a running joke between my husband and I. Plus he can't complain cause he's been on and off work for a year now and I try not to buy a lot, but rather these books just keep showing up! :) He's trying to be nice so I don't get on his case about more cleaning around the apartment! Hehe.
It also helps that my hubby is a gamer and gives me some time and space to read. Plus, he likes reading too, just isn't completely obsessed like I am.
My two boys are constantly telling me that I have way too many books and read way too much. My youngest (he's 19) just asked me last night "Do you ever get tired of just reading?"...nope.... but guess who I saw stalking my bookshelves when I got home from work today?? Yep... he took 3 to his bedroom to read :)
My husband is supportive of my reading addiction as long as it's not taking up too much space. When my shelves get full he starts complaining "I bought you an ereader so we wouldn't have this problem." lol
My parents and brothers and not readers so they complain at me every time I have my nose stuck in a book.
My boyfriend cannot complain because he has a large bookshelf too hahahaha, but the people who most complain are my parents, principally in dates like Christmas, Easter or something like that, because I always want more books, and they stay like "PLEASE! BE NORMAL! ASK FOR CLOTHES, SHOES OR PURSES! NOT MORE BOOKS! ", but I always get more books. HAHAHAHAHAH
Okaiexz...so my family barely says anything, but I they look at me weird when I tell them how excited I am about a book I just got..LOL
I have a hubby just like yours. I acknowledge that I have developed a collection that I couldn't read in four years... probably five. I remind him that I have bought 90% of them at thrift shops; I get my review books for free; I give them away on the blog or to library etc. They are a lot cheaper than his toys like the $1,000.00 scooter that is hard to drive out our dirt road; and cheaper than his tools that he does use for enjoyment. Well this is my enjoyment!
And I don't watch the same movies over and over and over....
I feel your pain. :-)
My family gets sick of me raving on about the latest awesome book I've read - that's part of the reason I started a blog, so I would have like-minded people to talk to! And it's not so much people complaining, but my friends often question why I read so much. But oh well, now that I have a blog to talk about it all, I don't care! :D
My friends are always complaining! Even though I don't have as uch time to read anymore, they're always saying I have a different book every other day. I mean, it might be true, but still...
Oh yeah do I get alot of complaints!:)My dad complains that I read too much and that I have too many books, and that I need to get rid of them.My brothers consider reading a , let's just say they don't like it and find it mind boggling when I prefer to stay home and read then go out:)My mother doesn't really mind me reading. My friends think I'm absolutely addicted to books and can't understand why I would want to read.
:O Burn your books? WHAT?! Yeah, if someone said that to me I'd be watching them closely and if anything happened to my books they definitely wouldn't live for very long afterward, ha ha.
Here is my post!

Yes, but it's only my boyfriend. He always assumes that all I do in my spare time is read math books. Because of this, he never asks what I am reading about, because he doesn't like math. I don't just read "math" books. I read all kinds of different stuff, but he never cares to ask about the other types of books.
My friends sometimes poke fun at me for the giant stack of books, but I've been lucky that most of my friends actually admire that I read so much. My spouse is worse than I am with buying books so he has no room to talk. We have an insane library. I guess I'm lucky that most people in my life are extremely supportive of my reading and actually tend to say it's one of their favorite things about me. Except when it comes time to help us move then they tend to be a little less happy that we're both such giant book nerds.
