Question: Inspired by Ally Condie's, Matched, if you were in a controlled society that decided your every move in life, would you follow rules or rebel against them?
My Answer: Knowing myself, if I don't feel comfortable with a forced decision, I tend to do the opposite. I would definitely not be able to handle a society where everything was decided for me. I like having the choice to pick my destiny by going through different paths in life. However, if I was put in this type of environment, I'd be the girl to quietly rebel while, establishing a following for back-up help. It might be life-threatening fighting against the norm, but for a taste of freedom, I would do anything.
I'd love to know your thoughts, so leave me a comment :)

Oh I would not like that at all. I would definitely rebel.
I probably would be a rebel, but it's difficult to know how you are going to be when you are scared of your actions could hurt your family/friends.
being alone I would follow the rules because I would be afraid to suffer the consequences alone. But if I had a good friend who is more courageous than me or if I had love to fight for then I'll say forget your bs rules, i'm out of here!
When I was young I would a definite rebel. Now I'm more likely to work the system.
I would take a more cowardly/cautious approach. You can read my full answer here.
I'd start out pretty passive aggressive, I think. Doing little things that I could feign ignorance or stupidity about if I got caught.
Then, once I was confident in my ability to get away with stuff, I'd start doing bigger stuff. I don't imagine myself handling this type of structure very well at all.
I like Juju's answer; work the system. I'm not sure it would occur to me to do that though. I like to do things my own way, but I wouldn't want to endanger my family. Then again, I wouldn't want my family to be under some crooked governements control.
Ultimately, I think I'd try to undermine the system in small ways, like they did in the French resistance; I read one book where a boy carried three pencils in his breat pocket. One blue, one white, and one red. Viva le resistance!
Definitely Rebel!
