Bloomsbury's division, Walker Books for Young Readers unveiled Tracy Deeb's beautiful cover, Tempest Rising. I love mermaids -- even those who are half, so I'm really looking forward to this one. On top of that, this photo is gorgeous and fits well with the vibe of the summary. It will be released on May 10, 2011.
Summary: Tempest Maguire wants nothing more than to surf the killer waves near her California home; continue her steady relationship with her boyfriend, Mark; and take care of her brothers and surfer dad. But Tempest is half mermaid, and as her seventeenth birthday approaches, she will have to decide whether to remain on land or give herself to the ocean like her mother. The pull of the water becomes as insistent as her attraction to Kai, a gorgeous surfer whose uncanny abilities hint at an otherworldly identity as well. And when Tempest does finally give in to the water's temptation and enters a fantastical underwater world, she finds that a larger destiny awaits her—and that the entire ocean's future hangs in the balance.

Ooooo gorgeous! I want!
^I agree with Juju!!
I love it! And go mermaids! :)
I've never read a mermaid book before. The last mermaid thing I partook of was Little Mermaid, and I thought, even as a child, that Ariel was a ditz.
This sounds like it might be interesting, though, and I would like to read about an underwater sort of scene, I think that'd be neat. I'll have to keep an eye for this!
As for the cover, I really it! The colors are nice and her tattoo is cool. The only thing I don't like is that her scales are faded. I think they would have looked better, and made more sense, if the skin-to-scale line was more defined.
Thanks for sharing, Eleni!
Love it! So very beautiful.
Probably not going to read the book, but still great cover.
It seems that mermaids are becoming the next big thing there are several books coming out next year where the main character is a mermaid.
I haven't read any books about mermaids yet but this sounds like a great one to start with. The cover is gorgeous too!
I LOOOVE the cover! And mermaid stories too. Haven't exactly read them yet though. =/
Anyway, thanks for posting this!
I love this cover, especially the tattoo.
So glad you like the cover! We had a lot of fun designing it-- especially trying to get the tattoos on Tempest's back just right.
