Question: When do you call it quits for a book?
(Credit goes to Yan from Books by Their Cover)
My Answer: I'm the type that usually pushes myself to finish a book, just because I feel committed to finish a review. However, I've called it quits twice in my reading experience. When I reach the point of a book causing me stress or annoyance, I just have to walk away. It's sad since I feel like I'm giving up, but sometimes you just have to. At times, my mood is to blame, and I will eventually return to those unread books one day.
I'd love to know your thoughts, so leave me a comment :) Have a question idea?

I call it quits if they book does not grab me. I need drama, a good plot, something to pull me in. I do however feel like I need to fninsh as well. But If I do catch myself reading the same line over and over, I'm done.
If I'm committed to giving a review, I'll finish, but otherwise, since I have such limited time these days, I'll give it 100 pages before I give up. Although if something really annoys me within the first pages, I'll give up earlier. And I agree, sometimes it depends on my mood and what's happening in my life. Great question from Yan!

I recently called it quits on a book I received for read 13% in. I don't know how many pages that was (I was reading it on my Kindle). This particular book wasn't go anywhere. I found myself going back to see if I was missing anything (I wasn't).
Normally I'll give a book about 80-100 pages. Sometimes it takes time to get into a story, that's why I'll go that far into a book before calling it quits.
*received for "review"*
I should have proof read =/
Three things make me stop reading a book 1) the heroine is too-stupid-to-live, 2) stupid dialogue and 3) convoluted stories.
If I need to take notes to follow along with the story, its just not worth it.

Great question! My answer is here.
I usually try to finish a book, it's becomes like a personal challenge to get it done; in fact, I've only ever called it quits on one book. The story wasn't grabbing me and I found it needlessly gory and disgusting so I sent it back to the library when I was less than a quarter of the way through.
I call it quits when the last thing I want to do is pick up the book and read it. If it's worth reading at the time I'll be dying for any spare time I can get to read it. If not, then I avoid it. That is my sign that I should just stop. Sometimes it is a mood thing and if that's the case I'll get back to it when the mood is right.
