Book Announcements!

Usually I announce everything on Saturday with my 'In My Mailbox' post, however this weekend I'll be posting about Comic Con instead. Hope you enjoy all the announcements and please comment with your opinions, would love to hear from you all!

-NetGalley.com titles are now available on your iPhone or iPad! They are working with Bluefire Productions who recently introduced a free app (called Bluefire Reader) for the iPhone and iPad which will allow Adobe DRM-ed documents to be read on Apple devices. Make sure you download that app and run over to NetGalley.com to request all the exciting YA titles, if you haven't already!

-Lauren from Shooting Stars Mag is running an auction that will benefit the Cincinnati chapter of GLSEN. The auction ends tonight at 11:59 P.M. EST. So, if you're interested in bidding go here. Also, another blogger is hosting a giveaway for Jumpstart the World by Catherine Ryan Hyde, which also ends tonight, so enter here!

-Jacquelyn Wheeler, talented author and a good friend of mine unveiled her second edition cover of Rising Shadow. I absolutely think it's gorgeous! What do you all think? If you haven't read Rising Shadow yet, Jacquelyn offers a free version on her site here. Or you can purchase it online: Amazon / Kindle (only $2.99!)

-I must admit I love the Jersey Shore and Snooki. What can I say, I'm a sucker for reality shows. But, once I heard she signed for a book deal, I almost vomited. Honestly, I didn't even know she could read or write haha. But, I'm sure like the other celebs, a ghostwriter will do all the hard work. So far, the book will be called, Shore Thing, which her publisher states will involve “big hair, dark tans, and fights galore.”

-Also, Tyra Banks has agreed to a three-book deal with Delacorte Press for a YA fantasy series. It's about a girl trying to keep up with the beauty game at an elite school for supermodels, or Intoxibellas. Delacorte said the first novel, "Modelland," comes out in the summer of 2011. I used to like Tyra before she got annoying, but for some reason I want to read the series. I'm curious to see what Random House saw in her story ideas.

I was sooooo glad when I heard about Net Galley on iphone!!! I have been waiting for it for so long!!
But Tyra writing a book,to be honest I probably won't read it. Let's let authors be authors and retired models be retired models. I have the same outlook on Lauren Conrad and Hilary Duff. No thanks!

How funny that we had the same reaction to Snookie's book deal. I mean, I love Jersey Shore (I can fist pump with the best of them, haha) but Snookie getting a book deal? Seriously?

I wonder if Tyra will write it herself or if she'll use a ghost writer.

Oh no, not another celebrity writing a book -__- That's just so annoying. I must admit the plot sounds kind of interesting though :P
