Summary: Sixteen-year-old Evie's job is bagging and tagging paranormals. Possessing the strange ability to see through their glamours, she works for the International Paranormal Containment Agency. But when someone--or something--starts taking out the vamps, werewolves, and other odd beasties she's worked hard to help become productive members of society, she's got to figure it out before they all disappear and the world becomes utterly normal. Normal is so overrated.

My Review: Paranormalcy was an authentic start to a fun and stimulating series. Kiersten's manifestation of the IPCA (International Paranormal Containment Agency) was bleeping
brilliant (you'll understand why I used 'bleeping' once you read it.) The thought of an agency capturing paranormal beings such as vampires, werewolves, faeries, etc. and giving them a job within the company was hilarious. On top of that, the main character, Evie was spunky, sarcastic and one tough cookie. Her energy and ability to deal with unusual situations reeled me into the story. The IPCA depended on Evie a lot since she had the gift of seeing passed glamours. Too bad she couldn't enjoy the sexy vampires since all she could see was their nasty skeletons underneath.

In Paranormalcy, the reader was introduced to Evie's ex faerie boyfriend, Reth. I felt like his sense of purpose will be revealed in the next installment. Right now, I am a bit flustered by his demeanor and confused about his choices. Another character I really liked was Lend, Evie's crush. He was quite a catch not only in his power to take the appearance of others but, also his sweet nature. There blooming relationship was adorable and they seemingly meshed together. The elements I enjoyed the most was learning the reasoning behind the IPCA and the figure who made it her business to destroy paranormals. I will leave it at that in order to keep spoilers out of my review. There are still a lot of unanswered questions I am looking forward to unraveling. Overall, all the suspense, humor and supernatural creatures made this book into a fun ride. I am excited to see what other hardships Evie is put through in the sequel.

My Rating:
(4.5)

Author's Info:
In Kiersten's words, "Like most adults, I was once a teenager. However, I never outgrew it--literally. Standing at a daunting 4'11", I decided to write to my height peer group. Everyone knows that teenagers have more fun. Turns out writing for teenagers is more entertaining, too. Born and raised in Utah, I was lucky enough to marry a native San Diegan and be adopted into the fish taco and beach culture. A stay-at-home mom and full-time writer (if you count scraping in whatever hours I can after my kids go to bed as full-time), I live with my wonderful husband and two adorable children in San Diego, CA. I'm currently twenty-six, but that's bound to change next year. Desperate for entertainment, I started writing shortly after having my first baby and haven't stopped since. Being an author is quite literally a dream come true for a girl who spent every free childhood moment reading, and still spends most of her moments (free or otherwise) daydreaming. When I'm not writing, I enjoy blogging and reading anything I can get my hands on. I probably need to branch out a bit in my hobbies."
