Ramona and Beezus
Rating: G
Release Date: July 23rd
Based on: The Ramona Series by Beverly Cleary

Summary: The adventures of young Ramona Quimby and her big sister Beezus come to life in this all-new film based on the bestselling books (over 30 million…and counting) by Beverly Cleary. Ramona’s vivid imagination, boundless energy and accident-prone antics keep everyone she meets on their toes. But her irrepressible sense of fun, adventure and mischief come in handy when she puts her mind to helping save her family’s home.

Rating: PG-13
Release Date: July 30th
Based on: Beastly by Alex Flinn

Summary: Beastly is an edgy teen romance about learning how to see past false surfaces to discover true inner beauty. Kyle Kingston has it all --- looks, intelligence, wealth and opportunity --- and a wicked cruel streak. Prone to mocking and humiliating aggressively unattractive classmates, he zeroes in on Goth classmate Kendra, inviting her to the school’s extravagant environmental bash. Kendra accepts, and, true to form, Kyle blows her off in a particularly savage fashion. She retaliates by casting a spell that physically transforms him into everything he despises. Enraged by his horrible and unrecognizable appearance, he confronts Kendra and learns that the only solution to the curse is to find someone who will love him as he is --- a task he considers impossible. Repulsed by his appearance, Kyle’s callous father banishes him to Brooklyn with a sympathetic housekeeper and blind tutor. As Kyle ponders how to overcome the curse and get his old life back, he chances upon a drug addict in the act of killing a threatening dealer. Seizing the opportunity, Kyle promises the addict freedom and safety for his daughter Lindy if she will consent to live in Kyle’s Brooklyn home. Thus begins Kyle’s journey to discover true love in this hyper-modern retelling of the classic “Beauty and the Beast” story.

Newly divorced and at a crossroads, Gilbert steps out of her comfort zone, risking everything to change her life, embarking on a journey around the world that becomes a quest for self-discovery. In her travels, she discovers the true pleasure of nourishment by eating in Italy; the power of prayer in India; and, finally and unexpectedly, the inner peace and balance of true love in Bali.

I kind of want to see Beastly, but that's about it though I'm sure I'll see Eclipse.

Sadly the Twilight film hype has killed my taste for the franchise :( But Eat, Pray, Love is my favorite book and I can't wait to see the film. I've heard about Beastly, but hadn't read it or seen the preview - that preview gave me goose bumps, looks awesome. I will definitely be putting it on my summer to-see list (I'll read the book afterwards though or I'll get upset with the movie). Thanks for sharing these.

I'm super excited about ALL these movies. I know the book is 99.9% always better than the movie, but I'm excited anyways to see these adaptations. I've been waiting for awhile to see how they will turn out. Usually I like them anyways. So we'll see!!!
