Monday's Question of the Day!

*You are welcome to use my meme - just credit me please*

Question: Do you prefer reading a book from a female or male perspective? Why?
(Thanks to Kari for the question idea!)

My Answer:
I don't mind the gender of the main character. However, I do catch myself relating and gravitating towards female perspectives. It all depends on how the character is presented personality wise. If they're male, I can see glimpses of traits that appeal to me and if they're female, 9 out of 10 I can relate to at least one character in the book. Overall though, if the writing is great the gender takes a backseat while the story becomes my main focus.

I'd love to know your thoughts, so leave me a comment :)

I confess I read more from a male perspective. The genres I read boast a lot of male authors and thus more male characters.

I guess I learn toward female perspectives as well. Great question!

I'm the same way. I will read either one, but I prefer the female perspective. I also love books that tell from both. I wrote one, and the male perspective was so interesting to work from!

I really don't care all to much, but there are far more female narrators. It just really depends on the writing, because I need to be able to relate the the narrator, whether they're male or female.

Awesome question, Eleni :D

I enjoy reading both. I write from both, but probably lean toward the male perspective. (Men are so simple!)

doesn't matter who POV it is--is the story good, characters that make sense.

For me, it doesn't matter. If the story is good, whoever writes it is fine! But I wish I'd had read more books with a male perspective... I read only a few books like this...

Yeah, if the story is good it doesn't matter. I do find myself however, after reading several from the woman's POV, deliberately looking for one from the male POV just for a change.

I'm the same way, if the story is good then I don't care whos POV it is. Although I tend to gravitate more towards females just because I can relate easier. But Beautiful Creatures is a good one to point out that it doesn't matter if its female or male. Great book and its a all from a males POV.
