Question: Have you ever been in a reading funk? If so, what have you done to get out of it?
My Answer: I've experienced a lot of reading funks! When I feel like I'm falling into a funk I tend to take a day off from reading. That way I can miss it and jump right back into it the next day. Now, if the book I'm reading at the moment is creating this crappy mood I either put it down for a couple of hours or start reading another book until I get the urge to go back to it.

I have. And then everything I try to read is just... blah. They are rare and I make sure that I do not blame the books, they could be perfectly wonderful and it is a true case of, "It's not you Book, it's me".
I usually give it a rest. I will listen to an audio or try a day or two off. That usually does the trick :)
I have been in a reading funk many times! I just keep the book aside, immerse myself in some other things, read a different book sometimes and then get back to the book. That helps :)
My reading funks last longer than a day. I don't panic. I just get busy doing other things. When the time is right; I jump back into the books again. I am definitely a hot and cold reader.

My funks usually require a change in reading material :) Great post!
I've been in funks where I get a stretch of book that are just lousy. It's hard for me to quit reading a book I've started and I get depressed when I get a string of them I don't like. Usually, I just keep plugging away in hopes of finding a good one, or, failing that, I get an old favorite and re-read it. That gets me in a better frame of mind and gives me hope that there is another great book out there for me to find.
I used your Question of the Day idea today because I had strange experience with my latest read. Thanks for getting my thought juices rolling!
yes I have ...but then it has to do with the weather and being sunny or either the book wasn't that interesting.
I change genres for a book or two - that usually re-charges me. :-)
I haven't been in a reading funk yet but that's probably because I read slow and I there are some days when *gasp!* I don't even read one page. I can see it happening at some point, though, now that I have a book blog. Not looking forward to that lol. Great question Eleni!
I have, and there is no rhyme or reason for it. Luckily it doesn't happen very often. I just do something else for a while, or change books and I'm good to go. Then I'll come back to the book I was reading while in a funk and read it later.
Yeah like all the time. I think its mainly b/c i push myself 2 read 20 or so pages a day. But right after school i'm just too tired, i read before i go 2 bed lol
I have! Usually to break it, I order my pile of "to-reads" based on what books I can wait to read, split by books I'm not all that cracked up about. So, I read one I love, then one I want to read but aren't real enthusiastic about :) Sometimes one I thought I'd love turns out to be...iffy and I end up putting it down because I'm distracted by my own writing easily. LOL.
I have had plenty of funks. Whenever I am in one I feel really bad because I love reading. I usually just take a little break. Or I start another book and then come back to the book I was orginally reading.
Oh yeah and if I don't feel like reading I just go to Barnes and Noble.com and look at books all day. Haha I know sounds lame.
I am so late on commenting on this, but really whenever I am in a reading funk, I go back and re-read my beloveds. Like my Vampire Academy Books, Black Dagger Brotherhood books, even Twilight believe it or not!!!
