Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver

Publisher: HarperCollins
Pages: 480
Received From: Lauren Oliver's ARC Tour

Summary: What if you had only one day to live? What would you do? Who would you kiss? And how far would you go to save your own life? Samantha Kingston has it all: the world's most crush-worthy boyfriend, three amazing best friends, and first pick of everything at Thomas Jefferson High—from the best table in the cafeteria to the choicest parking spot. Friday, February 12, should be just another day in her charmed life. Instead, it turns out to be her last. Then she gets a second chance. Seven chances, in fact. Reliving her last day during one miraculous week, she will untangle the mystery surrounding her death—and discover the true value of everything she is in danger of losing.

My Review: Let me start off by saying wow, I need to applaud Lauren's debut novel. It has officially made my list of favorite books ever. Scoot on over Twilight, a new book is in town! Before I Fall, was heart-breaking, emotionally touching and beautifully written. I literally fell for this novel from the first line. The beginning introduced Samantha Kingston, a complex character at first but later on she morphs into an individual who she was meant to be. There are moments when I was like, "Sam, what are you doing!?" and moments where I loved her. Her friends were also very entertaining and funny. I couldn't help but giggle when they joked around with each other. But, I also don't agree with a lot of their choices, especially Lindsay's way of treating people. I'm not going to give away any spoilers because I believe this book is meant to be read by all YA readers.

It taught me that by being mean to a person just for a quick second could affect their lives for years. We walk around not knowing how our actions can change people. Sometimes we can touch their lives in a positive way, however sometimes it could be in a negative way. Through Lauren's words, this idea comes to life by Samantha's journey of self-discovery while she relives the tragic day of the accident for a week. Don't get me wrong though, this book isn't a downer, it's actually uplifting at times with sarcasm, suspense and the discovery that everything in life is intertwined. Also, their is a little bit of romance which was honestly my favorite part. I absolutely loved Kent, he had a crush on Samantha ever since she was a little girl. He was a total mess at times but he was an adorable dork. Overall, I feel honored to be part of Lauren's book tour, she truly is a gifted writer and I cannot wait to read more works by her. I highly recommend this book because it challenges your thoughts with every word written. If you haven't noticed, I freakin' loved this book! :)
