Summary: Penny is sick of boys and sick of dating. So she vows: no more. It's a personal choice.. and, of course, soon everyone wants to know about it. And a few other girls are inspired. A movement is born: The Lonely Hearts Club (named after the band from Sgt. Pepper). Penny is suddenly known for her nondating ways... which is too bad, because there's this certain boy she can't help but like...

My Review: The Lonely Hearts Club was a fun, fast paced novel. The writing captured the voice of teenage girls very well. Obviously we all know boys suck and sometimes we want to stay away from them. Well, Penny and her group of friends decided to do just that. They started The Lonely Hearts Club which stated you must never turn away from your girlfriends and dating boys wasn't allowed until after you graduated. Now for me I wouldn't be able to go cold turkey, having boys around is fun sometimes, their is less catty drama. Hey for others maybe it's different. Now, the rules didn't necessarily stick under certain circumstances and had to be adjusted to keep everyone happy. I'll keep the reason why to myself, I don't want to give too much away. I really enjoyed the characters, especially Penny's best friend. She was pretty funny and I found myself giggling at her remarks. Also, Penny's parents were obsessed with The Beatles which was cool, hence the book title of the book. I'm not really a fan of their music but it was nice to read something out of the ordinary. Overall, this book is definitely filled with girl power and I admire the creativity behind the storyline. It was very cute but again it didn't wow me. I'm still waiting for a YA book to wow me...eh we'll see! But I do recommend this book if you're looking for a light, girly read. Also, isn't Elizabeth super cute!? She reminds me of that actress that played in the movie Confessions of a Shopaholic, gosh I forgot her name :/
My Rating: 4.5 out of 5

Nice review! Definitely sounds like a fun, cute read. And her parents liking the Beatles just makes everything that much more real. :)

Thanks for the review! This would be a great book for my teenage granddaughters. And I would be reading it myself so we would have much to talk about.

Came over from Cym Lowell's Book Review Blog Party (BRBP).

I haven't read anything by Elizabeth Eulberg yet, so don't know her. And yes, she's pretty! But I wouldn't be able to go without boys. I'm a hussy...
