Summary: When Lisa and her sister Susan celebrate Susan's birthday by attending a Full Moon Party-a party thrown by a group of werewolf fanatics in a swamp near New Orleans--an unexpected tragedy occurs. Fearing repercussions, Lisa turns to black magic in order to cover up what happened. But keeping things under wraps isn't as easy as Lisa thinks. Little does she know, her inner demons-and desires-will be the biggest obstacles in keeping her sister's death a secret.

My Review: Symptoms of a Broken Heart was unpredictable, gory and straight to the point. The story introduced two sisters, Susan and Lisa. Susan's birthday was coming up and Lisa invited her to a Full Moon Party. Susan was soon to be married and found the opportunity to let her hair down. However, the girls weren't expecting to be hanging out with shape shifters. The sisters went their separate ways during the party and unfortunately something went terribly wrong and Susan got killed. (It's in the summary - so it's not a spoiler.) Lisa had to find a way to cover up the mess and this is where the story turned weird but interesting. Cory's imagination was quite creative and I never read anything like it. However, I must warn my young readers that their is explicit sexual content. If you're a fan of bloody, horror, or erotica stories, then I recommend this.
My Rating: 4.0 out of 5
Author's Info:
Cory lives in Ames, Iowa with his lovely wife, Heather, and even lovelier daughter, Vivian. He spends most of his time restoring his old house and plotting ways to avoid the frigid Iowa winter. Most of them involve a sailboat. If you really want him to open up, simply provide mass quantities of Templeton Rye on the rocks or Four Square rum.

This was my first dark urban fantasy read. I admit it pushed the limits with me just a bit but I did enjoy it. I loved Cory's descriptive writing style. Great review. :)

Holy book cover!

Sounds a bit dark for my tastes but it's only 54 pages so I think I could handle that length. :)

Sounds a bit much for me. I'm not liking the cover but guess it expresses the content. Nice review!
