Monday's Question of the Day!

*You are welcome to use my meme - just credit me please*

Question: In school, most of the time we read classics, which one did you enjoy the most and which one did you hate?

My Answer: I would have to say I enjoyed Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte and Great Expectations by Charles Dickens. Most of the classics weren't that bad, but I HATED Middlemarch by George Eliot, it bored me to death so I gave up and used cliffnotes lol :)

I would love to hear your thoughts, leave a comment!

There are two "read-for-school" books I loved : Nadja by André Breton, and Supplément au Voyage de Bougainville by Diderot.
The worst one for me was Les Mots by Jean-Paul Sartre. I didn't even finish it.

Unfortunately we don't study Bronte or Dickens in France. I would've LOVED to !

Middlemarch is better when you're older for sure...I can't imagine what your teacher was thinking. :)
I hated Great Expectations. I still think Freshman are to young to read it. I loved The Count of Monte Cristo and had already read it at least half a dozen times by the time I was required to.

I answered on my site. Basically, I loved Jane Eyre and hated Joseph Andrews. You can see my full answer here.

I love this question of the day thing.
I think I'm with you - I LOVED Great Expectations by Charles Dickens.
Oddly enough, though, we really didn't read a lot of the classics. I feel like we were supposed to, but all these books that people are saying - yeah, I never read them (Jane Eyre, Withering Heights, Middlemarch, Joseph Andrews, etc. . .)

For school I would have to say my favorites to read are A Rasin in the Sun which I read freshman year and Of Mice and Men. But i remember in the 7th grade we had to read Twelfth Night by. Shakespeare and it has since been my favorite Shakespearan play!!!

In school, my favorites were Jane Eyre, To Kill a Mockingbird, and North & South (by Elizabeth Gaskell.) The classic that I absolutely hated was Ethan Frome- I hated the entire cast of characters in that book and would be okay never having to see it again in my life.

My favorites in High School were Grapes of Wrath and The Awakening. Once college hit, it was moe Chopin, all Faulkner and Shakespear, especially A Midsummer's Night Dream.

I hated The Odyssey and couldn't muddle through Middlemarch or Great Expectation. I just don't think I was willing to give the time knowing that there was something else I preferred.

We didnt read any classics in school. Unreal huh? I do however read a classic each year for book club. To date I have to agree with you - I think Wuthering heights has been my favorite.

The worst? I thin of the ones I have read Walden had to be the most painful.
