Summary: Before the accident, Lia Kahn was happy. Before the accident, Lia Kahn was loved. Before, Lia was a lot of things: Normal. Alive. Human. Lia no longer believes in before. Six months after the crash that killed her, six months after being reborn, Lia has finally accepted her new reality. She is a machine, a mech, and she belongs with her own kind. It’s a wild, carefree life, without rules and without fear. Because there’s nothing to fear when you have nothing left to lose. But when a voice from her past cries out for revenge, everything changes. Lia is forced to choose between her old life and her new one. Between humans and mechs. Between sacrificing the girl she used to be and saving the boy she used to love. Even if it means he’ll hate her forever.

My Review: Crashed is the second book in Robin's Skinned series. I really loved the first book Skinned and I had high expectations for the sequel. However, I have mixed feelings about it. The first 100 pages started out a little slow for me, their were times where I struggled to get into the story. But, eventually I started remembering how much I enjoyed Lia as a character. In the first book she had a tough time getting used to the fact that she no longer was human. In Crashed, Lia has grown to accept that she is a skinner a.k.a. a copy of herself with a robot body. She became a strong, confident skinner who understood that her brain is the same, but her body is not. I also, enjoyed the blossoming relationship between her and Riley. I didn't really expect that so it was nice to see Lia open up romantically with someone in her new form. I enjoyed the sequel but, I wasn't blown away. It had great action especially towards the last 100 pages and Robin's writing is beautiful. I truly hope the third book surpasses my expectations. Overall, I recommend the Skinned series if you want to read YA science fiction.
My Rating: 4.5 out of 5

Glad you liked it, I'm fond of Skinned, though the tone is rather bleak all the way through. I'll be picking this one up.
