Summary: A steamy Southern beauty makes one fatal mistake. Natalie Hargrove would kill to be her high school’s Palmetto Princess. But her boyfriend Mike King doesn’t share her dream and risks losing the honor of Palmetto Prince to Natalie’s nemesis, Justin Balmer. So she convinces Mike to help play a prank on Justin. . . one that goes terribly wrong. They tie him to the front of the church after a party—when they arrive the next morning, Justin is dead. From blackmail to buried desire, dark secrets to darker deeds, Natalie unravels. She never should’ve messed with fate. Fate is the one thing more twisted than Natalie Hargrove.

My Review: I must say the book started out a little slow, I wasn't really connecting with Natalie on a deeper level, she just seemed like a one trick pony. She only seemed to care about her reputation and winning the title of Princess with her boyfriend Mike on her side. I really liked Mike though, he wasn't as self-centered as Natalie, however he was sort of a punk. He would do anything to make Natalie happy, even cover up her mistakes, which I won't give away! Her character kind of reminded me of Sarah Michelle Gellar in the movie Cruel Intentions. Natalie would do anything to win. Around page 100, I was shocked at the unfortunate events and couldn't help but say out loud, "what!?" After, I got over hating Natalie I slowly got to learn why she acted the way she did and ended up feeling sorry for her. But my favorite part of the book was the ending, all my questions were answered and again I was amazed at such an unpredictable outcome. Overall, The Betrayal of Natalie Hargrove surpassed my expectations. Lauren Kate is an extraordinary writer and definitely knows how to throw in some crazy twists! I also learned fate could bite ya on the ass if you mess with it! lol.
My Rating: 4.5 out of 5

I'm not loving the cover for this book. :(

I'm looking forward to Fallen, however, I've read a few negative reviews of it. :(

Great review! I'm sort of having reservations about the book now, after hearing that she's sort of hard to relate to at the beginning. I usually don't like the main character if she's annoying at the beginning, and I hate having to like her at the end. Thanks for the heads up! :)

The cover of this book reminds me of the Cruel Intentions cover, and then I saw you mention how Rachel reminds you of SMG's character in Cruel Intentions and I giggled.
