Summary: Genenieve Xavier has an immense heart, colossal dreams, and maybe wants to be just a tiny bit famous. But that's only half of her story. Raised in rural Pennsylvania, Gen is a 22-year-old college graduate pursuing a career behind the scenes in the entertainment industry. She is determined to do better than a nine-to-five gig in a blue-collar town. She is intent on making it somewhere to be somebody; though she hasn't quite got it all figured out. But soon after graduation, her life takes a turn for the best. Her career takes off overnight and she is finally headed to California to manage her best friend new found career in comedy. That is until Leila, a sexy but callous talent agent, enters the picture and nearly destroys Gen's life. Genevieve grapples to keep her dreams alive and her head on straight. The help of one guy, an unexpected, and damn fine, acquaintance, may provide the inspiration she needs to turn it all around and take back what is hers. That is, if she wants what she once had.

My Review: Gen X is a humorous, fun paced debut novel by Tisha. I was easily lost in Gen's life from the first chapter. Her personality intrigued me and was drawn to her sense of humor. The only thing that annoyed me about her was she always had a cigarette in her hand and couldn't go a day without coffee. Eh I guess because I don't smoke and hate coffee, I didn't understand. *Shrugs* But, Tisha's writing style gave me a chance to get to know all the character's and grew to love most but loathe some. I really disliked her best friend Jared's agent Leila, one word to describe her rhymes with witch. I found myself rolling my eyes when I read her parts in the book, if she was real I'd seriously punch her in the face :) I don't want to give too much away since the story is captivating and I don't want to spoil any of the surprises! But, I must say I enjoyed taking an emotional roller coaster with Gen. There were times where I was really sad for her, but by the end of the book I said "awwwww" out loud. I have a feeling that their might be a second book because I'd love to see Gen's life take off in another place in her life. However, just to warn my young readers their is cursing and sexuality in this book. I do recommend it to those that are looking for a fun, emotional read that makes you giggle out loud but, also pout from sadness. My only negative thing would have to be that it wasn't longer! Go buy it, it's definitely worth it...
My Rating: 5 out of 5
