Book Review: Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins

Catching Fire (Book 2) by Suzanne Collins
Genre: Young Adult Fiction
Publisher: Scholastic Press
Pages: 400
Available Now: Amazon.com

Summary: Against all odds, Katniss Everdeen has won the annual Hunger Games with fellow district tribute Peeta Mellark. But it was a victory won by defiance of the Capitol and their harsh rules. Katniss and Peeta should be happy. After all, they have just won for themselves and their families a life of safety and plenty. But there are rumors of rebellion among the subjects, and Katniss and Peeta, to their horror, are the faces of that rebellion. The Capitol is angry. The Capitol wants revenge.

My Review: Catching Fire was a great follow up to the Hunger Games. The minute you think Katniss and Peeta are free from the Capitol, you're wrong! The twists are crazy and it was definitely a page turner. But, I must say I still kind of prefer the Hunger Games. The beginning of the book was a little slow. I guess as a fan of Suzanne's writing I was anticipating the action, which surfaced around the middle of the book. However, their were times I'm glad they mentioned parts of the Hunger Games which helped refresh my memory. I've also decided I'm on Team Peeta, I like Katniss but she annoys me sometimes, it's either Peeta or Gale...stop being selfish and pick one lol. I don't really want to spoil anything so I'm going to let the book speak for itself. Overall a great sequel and I cannot wait to read book three, I'm looking forward to see what other crazy adventure we're put through!
My Rating: 5.0 out of 5.0

I'm team Petale! Hehe I can't decide. I like them both but I have a feeling someone is going to die in order for her to be with one of them.

Okay, Jake grabbed Hunger Games before Alyssa or I could get to it but he has high praise for it. Alyssa won the rock-paper-scissors for the next one to read it so hopefully I can read them back to back when I get my hands on it. I'm looking forward to both!
