Summary: Ashlyn: A lonely society princess living in New York City. Daddy hired you to be my bodyguard. Colin: Childhood enemy, now her protector. Daddy thought I’d be safe. He thought I’d never fall in love. He thought he could keep me forever. Charles: obsessed with keeping her safe, keeping her his, he hires the one person he knows she could never fall in love with: Colin. Daddy was wrong. A kidnapping leaves a father fanatical about his only child's safety. A story of obsessive love and the quest for independence.
My Review: Have you ever felt trapped in a world where your whole life was mapped out for you? The answer to this question lies within the pages of Ashlyn's frustrating reality. Due to a kidnapping at a young age, her parents made it their duty to control every step of their daughter's existence. By doing so, they've eliminated any normalcy for her vibrant and talented attributes. As a reader, I quickly established sympathy towards Ashlyn's situation. Honestly, I wouldn't be able to handle the non-stop security with a bodyguard breathing down my neck. It's understandable to want to protect their daughter from harm, however the way they handled it was ridiculous. I wasn't a big fan of her parents, especially her mother. The childish leash they had over her was seriously getting old. I was actually praying for her to rebel against her goody goody ways. I know, not the best advice but hey the girl deserved some breathing room.
I was happy to see that Jennifer Laurens created characters that fit the perfect role of overprotected parents. The title and cover definitely backed up the plot. Now, the protagonist's father decided to play dirty by hiring Ashlyn's previous nemesis. He used to bully her when they were younger, so automatically he is labeled the perfect candidate for the job. But, little does the father know that Colin was Ashlyn's dose of medicine from all this insanity. Colin was simply yummy. I loved how well-spoken and polite he was. Plus, he was fun and seemed to let Ashlyn get away with things that her previous bodyguards wouldn't dare condone. Their blossoming relationship was charming and deliciously enticing. I don't want to give too much away since it wouldn't be entertaining without some turbulences. All in all, Jennifer Lauren's positive reputation with writing was spot on. I look forward to picking up her other works as well!

Author's Info:
In her words, "I've written since junior high school. An only child, I grew up writing big stories about big families. I also write YA under the name of JM Warwick. My hometown of Palos Verdes, California figures in much of my work, as does my current home of Pleasant Grove, Utah and other favorite places. I love to travel. They say "write what you know" and I do. I am a mother, I have six children, five cats and a huge doberman/dane dog. I have a supportive husband and we've been married 25 years. Our lives, though challenging with a handicapped child who has autism, are centered in our family. My life experiences have worked into all of my novels. Some more heavily than others, but parts of me are in each story. I love stories rich in family drama, where family members overcome obstacles through love and miracles."

These books are tons of fun to read, this looks great! I don't like the book trailer as much, though.
I have yet to read anything by Jennifer Laurens, but it sounds like I need to remedy that!
