Books For Thought: If books didn't exist, what would be your other hobby?

Previously known as Monday's Question of the Day, Books For Thought is a feature where I post a book-related question up for discussion. I am open to all opinions and enjoy reading diverse comments from my lovely followers. I look forward to picking your minds!

Have a question idea? Share it here and I'll feature your blog in this post.

If books didn't exist, what would be your other hobby?

My Response: If books didn't exist, that would be a major let down. I'd probably try to invent reading somehow, I'm sure you all would. It's just in our blood. Reading DNA, I wonder if it's a trait that actually exists among bookworms. Anywho, let's just say books never were introduced to us, what would be my hobby? I love movies and TV shows. So, I'd probably consider myself a movie buff. I love my Netflix very much, where would I be without it? Plus, as most of you know I obsess over Korean dramas, so I'd continue to watch them. Just thinking about not having books gives me the chills though.

What are your bookish thoughts?

Movies. 'Cause they tell stories.

Uh. If books didn't exist, where would we learn our hobbies from? I suppose my bookless-world hobby would be hiking or drawing because both of those are bookless; you don't need any particular knowledge or skill to walk outdoors or drag a stick across dirt.

Well, if I couldn't write books, I guess I'd be left writing stories or movie scripts for you, Eleni!

I would have to resort to a world of Rock Band and Guitar Hero. My only guilty pleasure that doesn't involve reading of some sort. Even my needlepoint and crafts are based on patterns in books.

If books didn't exist-- that would be a major bummer! :(

I suppose I would take the next closest thing to literature and spend more time being an artist-- I love to paint and draw but I never have time for it anymore! Ugh, this is a depressing question though haha...

Anime I suppose, since that's my second (most expensive) hobby. Possibly video games though, since I've been playing them almost as long as I've been reading!

SCARY *hides eyes* lol. Before I started reading again I was into scrapbooking for a while. Well, until my daughter was old enough to grab things. So I guess I'd do more of that since I dropped it for my book hobby. It was pretty fun but reading is so much better!

Wow... i think i would fall back on my artistic side. Before I started reading i was a BIG anime/cartoon drawer. I'd always had pen and paper in hand. recently i drew Ash and Puck from the Iron Fey series.

But now reading has taken over, but i still love to draw just not as much lol

Movies, scrapbooking and maybe more outdoor pursuits. I bet I would be in better shape if I spent less time reading and more time moving!

Wow. I really can't imagine such a world. It's embedded so deeply in our bones! I'm not sure I want to think about it O_O Especially these days, reading and writing and books consumes my time.

I do take things in spells, though. So I've also been obsessed with music and movies at other point in my life -- but they've never overshadowed the books :)

Here's my answer.

What a horrible thought - no books!

My new hobby would have to be banging my head against the wall so I could retrain my brain not to miss books. (Only sorta joking.)

I think it would have to be watching movies. At least they are stories of a sort. But if they weren't movies made from books they might be slightly less interesting.
