Summary: How do you come back from the point of no return? Seth McCoy was the last person to see his best friend, Isaac, alive, and the first to find him dead. It was just another night, just another party, just another time when Isaac drank too much and passed out on the lawn. Only this time, Isaac didn't wake up. Convinced that his own actions led to his friend's death, Seth is torn between turning his life around . . . or losing himself completely. Then he meets Rosetta: so beautiful and so different from everything and everyone he's ever known. But Rosetta has secrets of her own, and Seth soon realizes he isn't the only one who needs saving . . .

Guest Post:

1) Thank you Mindi for taking the time out to do this guest post. Your book sounds amazing and I can't wait to read it! I am eager to know, what inspired you to write Freefall?

MS: Yay! Thank you! There are many things that came together to inspire me to write this! One of them was a memory from my freshman year in high school:
Every single day, I would see this certain boy out the window, dragging himself into school after the rest of us were already in class. And every single day, I would wonder if he was as scary/miserable/mean/sad as he looked. (Side note: As it turns out, he just wasn’t a morning person at all. And a year later, he ended up becoming the first boy to ever kiss me. La la la!) So, I thought it would be interested to incorporate a dynamic into this story where characters who didn’t know one other (yet!) had certain impressions—some that proved totally accurate and some . . . not so much.

2) Throughout Freefall, who has been your favorite character creation?

MS: Seth is my favorite character in Freefall and my favorite character that I’ve written to date. I totally adore him.

3) If you had to pick a secondary choice for your novel's title, what would it be?

MS:
During title brainstorming sessions, I really fell in love with Rocked. You can take it to mean, like, “Yeah, that rocked!” There’s also music in the book—rock music included. Plus, rocked has several slang meanings: being drunk, being high, getting beat up. For me, all of these together really fit the book, but my editor thought sounded too much like a teen-rock-band-stardom story. We went with Freefall because it has layers of meaning that are important to Seth’s emotional journey. Now, of course, I can’t imagine it having any other title!

4) Besides Freefall, are you currently working on any other projects?

MS: I have a few manuscripts going right now. All of them are contemporary YA. The one I’m really focusing on has an-almost-sixteen-year-old-girl protagonist. We’ll see how it goes!

5) In conclusion, do you have anything you want to say to your future readers?

MS: I just want to say thank you for reading this interview! If you check out Freefall—and I will love it if you do!—I very much hope that it resonates with you. :)

Oh snap! Okay, so..my bad. I got this book confused with another book that I'd seen and so I was hesitant to pick it up...ugh! Misconceptions! Anywayss....

The story about the freshman bit...fascinating!! It's lines like that that make you want to pick up and read PRONTO! XD Now I really need to get this book...PRONTO! Hehehhe...

Great interview! :) I have GOT to see if my library has this yet. (I sincerely doubt it, so it's going on my to-buy list. XD)

Hasta luego!
